Daryush Shayegan forged already thirty years ago, following the Khomeinist revolution, the concept of "ideologization of religion", taken up by many experts to account for political Islam and its dead ends. He also thought of the notion of the individual no longer in terms of unique origin and belonging but as a patchwork of multiple identities and describes the contemporary world no longer by opposing East and West, modernity and tradition but by analyzing this " thought of the in-between ", the amalgamations, the distortions, the ruptures and the connections which cross each being in all places of the planet. In order to identify the meaning of this "mixed-race consciousness", it is still necessary to question historical memory, the specific constituents which allowed the West to emerge with its universals (critical thinking, scientific analysis, democracy, etc.) resulting from the Enlightenment in the face of to a disoriented Orient living a time other than historical, theological, mystical or even mythological which has cracked with globalization, virtualization and social networks. Multiculturalism, plural identities, metamorphoses of religion, interconnectivity, zones of hybridization, deterritorializations, so many combinations that the author analyzes at the time of "Arab revolutions" which see civil society and anachronistic power opposed. The changes which are shaking up the world did not come overnight: by referring as much to the philosophers of Nietzsche to Deleuze and Baudrillard as to the Arab-Muslim theologians, it is to think about the genealogy and the future of our "being in the world "that the author invites us.
